Standards for an open, living archive

Editorial Standards

UftB aims to make every file understandable, traceable, and honest about what it is. Standards apply whether the subject is public affairs, a product, a game, a recipe system, or a fictional world.

Evidence and attribution

Material claims should be supported by primary sources where practical, or by clearly identified reliable secondary sources. Direct quotations and borrowed media are attributed. Links are provided when they help a reader inspect the underlying record.

Fact, interpretation, and speculation

Reported facts are not presented as opinion, and theory is not presented as established fact. Reconstructions, original concepts, likelihood estimates, and fictional material are labeled so readers can distinguish evidence from inference.

Review and independence

Recommendations explain the use case, evidence, tradeoffs, and relevant ownership experience behind the conclusion. Advertising, affiliate relationships, free products, sponsorships, or other material relationships will be disclosed and do not grant editorial approval.

AI assistance

Digital and AI tools may assist research organization, drafting, coding, illustration, or production. The named author remains responsible for verification, selection, framing, and the final published work. Synthetic or reconstructed visuals are labeled when they could be mistaken for documentary evidence.

Updates and corrections

Living files may change as sources, products, games, or projects change. Material errors are corrected transparently through the corrections process; ordinary copy edits may be made without a formal notice.
